Button Up
Button Up is the brainchild of Garry John Kane. Garry is currently the bass player with Scottish legends The Proclaimers and has also played with Marianne Faithfull, The McCluskey Brothers and Justin Currie to name but a few.
Button Up first came to life in 1998 when Garry, joined by drummer Ross McFarlane and keyboardist Paul Gallagher, started gigging around Glasgow with a unique hammond driven mod/soul sound that quickly gathered them a loyal following. 2008 saw the release of the 10 track album No Dancin' On The Tables which featured a stellar cast of guest musicians including Justin Currie (Del Amitri), Brian McFie (The Big Dish) and Ken McCluskey (The Bluebells). The album was produced by Mark Freegard (The Breeders and Del Amitri) and proved to be a hit with radio stations and dj's around the globe. The album spawned the ep I'm Gonna Leave You, which features Justin Currie on lead vocals on the title track.
With The Procliamers taking a break from touring, Garry has been able to get back into the studio to record a brand new Button Up album. Working with producer and friend Andy Gardner (Andy also plays guitar in the band), the album, called Modena, features the outstanding vocal talents of Sara Kerr, a real star in the making. The band also features Greg Barnes (keys), Lesley McLaren (drums) and Tom MacNiven (trumpets). As a taster of what is to come, the first single from the album, Listen To Your Heart (Beat) was released on April 21st 2011 and is available as a limited edition 7" vinyl from our online store as well as from all established download sites.
